The Duty time module enables dispatchers and fleet managers to monitor and visualize driver and asset activities compiled from diverse sources, such as tachographs and On-Board Computers real time tachographs (OBCTachos) currently.
Key capabilities:
- Customized views: Select the data source, specific driver or asset, time period, and view the graphical representation of each activity
- Real-time tracking: Track and manage current driver or asset statuses, such as driving, working, and resting hours, in real time
The purpose is to enable dispatchers and fleet managers ensure regulatory compliance and support operational analysis. In the asset view, they can gauge how efficiently the vehicles are used. The driver activity can be verified against the asset activity recorded.
View source details #
You can view real-time tacho and tachograph details on the duty time page.
- From the left navigation panel, click Duty time
. The duty time overview page is displayed.
- From the source list, select the source from where the data is to be fetched. The list of drivers or assets is updated.
- By default, Real-time tacho is selected as the source.
- Real-time tacho: Refers to the display of current activity details and a continuously updated data stream from the tachograph unit of the vehicle.
- The following details are displayed below the asset name when the selected source is real-time tacho:
- The driver name
- The status and the duration in this state

- By activity date: Sorts assets or drivers based on the most recent change in their duty status, for example, the last time they started driving or resting; this is applicable to real-time tacho source
- Select the asset or the driver to view the activity details. The details are displayed on the duty time page. This is a representative image for driver Serena Williams.

The driver activity records are displayed on the following timelines:
Timeline for real-time tacho #
This is a representative image of the timeline for real-time tacho.
The following details are displayed on the timeline:
- The timeline is a graphical representation (bar graphs) of the activities
- Each row represents a 24-hour duration of a date and spans from 00 hours to 24 hours
- A blank row indicates that there was no activity on that day
- Each activity is represented on the timeline by a bar
- The size of a segment of the bar graph is proportional to the time spent on the activity
- Segments are color-coded and correspond to a specific activity, for example, driving, resting, or availability
For more information, see Activity columns. - You can view additional details of the activities from the activities list and by zooming the graphs. For more information, see View activity details.
- Arrows mark the start of the working day (for the one pointing upwards
) and the end of the working day (for the one pointing down
) with their respective time stamps
- When you click a segment, the activity details, such as start time, end time, and duration are displayed
- A contextual line is displayed above the activity bars on the graph, including the license plate number or the driver name. When you click the on the context, it shows the start time (logged in) and end time (logged out).
- In the asset view, on hovering over the context, the following details are displayed: the driver, name of the asset, start time (logged in), and end time (logged out).
- In the driver view, on hovering over the context, the following details are displayed: the license plate number of the asset, start time (logged in), and end time (logged out).
- The context is linked to the asset used by the driver in the related period.
- It represents a continuous period starting from the moment the driver logs into a vehicle and ends when the driver logs out.
- By default, the displayed information is the license plate.
- Each vehicle switch or login change (card removal) results in to a break of the contextual line.
- The countries transited by the driver are displayed on the timeline
- You can scroll up or scroll down the timeline.
Timeline for tachograph #
This is a representative image of the timeline for tachograph.
The following additional information is displayed in the timeline for tachograph in addition to the information displayed on the timeline for real-time tacho.
- The activities that are performed without the tacho card inserted are represented by striped bar graphs. A driver can reinsert the card in the tachograph and indicate the activities performed in the tachograph, since the card was withdrawn. Such activities are marked in strips.
- An infringement
icon is displayed if an infringement is triggered. When you hover over the icon, the details are displayed.
- The infringement details are not displayed in the real-time taco source, because the infringement is calculated from the tachograph source.
- For an asset, infringement is triggered in the following ways:
- Asset is being driven without tachograph card
- When the last tachograph readout file of the asset was not archived in time
- At the end of the bar graph, a line indicates that the driver was accompanied by a co-driver, which is referred to as multi-manning. A co-driver can also be present during the resting period.
- Specific conditions of boarding a ferry or a train: Regulations allow the driver to onboard a ferry or a train without breaking the rest period. The driver can activate this state on the tachograph. This is represented by a horizontal bar at the top and lower part of the segments.
- Specific condition of out of scope: A driver can indicate that during a period, the driver is not under the purview of normal regulations, for example, working in a forest area. This is represented by greyed bar graphs.
- You can import archived data in the Tachograph management module. This data is displayed in the Duty time module.
In Europe, a driver is obliged to indicate the activities that were performed when the card was not inserted in the Tachograph. This enables one to distinguish between activities recorded by a tachograph and those recorded manually, without a card being inserted.
Activity columns #
The columns on the right display the accumulated values for each activity. The weekly or monthly total is also displayed.
- The name of the activity is displayed when you hover over the value in the columns
- The columns can be dragged to change their position/sequence
- The color below the icons serve as a legend for the bar graphs on the timeline
- The color of the legend is based on the color palette used.
