The Route planner module helps to calculate the optimal route for deliveries based on the transportation cost, speed, and distance. The objective of this module is to determine the routes between multiple locations for different vehicle types and to calculate the estimated costs.
Plan route #
Depending on the entered estimated cost per kilometer and cost per hour for the delivery, the recommended and alternative routes are displayed.
- Recommended route: This is the optimal (best) route suggested.
- Alternative route: This is the next best route suggested.
- From the left navigation pane, click Route planner
. The Route planner window is displayed.
- In the Choose starting point box, enter the starting point or origin, and select the required address from the list.
Alternatively, you can right-click on the map and select Start from here to select a starting point. - In the Choose destination box, enter the destination name, and select the required address from the list.
Alternatively, you can right-click on the map and select Add destination to select a destination. - Enter at least three characters to initiate a search operation in the location fields.
- If the location entered in the Choose starting point or the Choose destination box is not valid, an error message is displayed.
- In the Route options and costs section, from the Profile list, select the vehicle profile.
- Click Edit profile. The Edit profile panel is displayed.
- Select the required options from the Cost per km, Cost per hour, and Currency lists.
- If the vehicle is carrying hazardous material, select the Carrying dangerous goods checkbox. Additional checkboxes are displayed.
- If required, select the Goods harmful to water and/or the Explosive materials checkboxes, select the tunnel category from the ADR tunnel category restricted (optional) list, and then click Save. You are redirected to the Route planner window.
- By default, highways are included in the route calculation. To exclude highways during route planning, select the Highways checkbox.
- By default, ferries are included in the route calculation. To exclude ferries during route planning, select the Ferries checkbox.
- The following vessels are considered as ferries: ships, hovercraft, and water buses.
- The following are not considered as ferries: rail, cable car, or other types of ferries.
- The ferries that cannot transport vehicles, such as car or truck are not considered as ferries and are not displayed on the map.
- If a ferry route is not considered for transportation, the vehicle will have to travel a longer distance on the recommended route.
- Activities, such as scheduling, waiting time, and opening hours are not considered while calculating the estimated cost.
- By default, tolls are included in the route calculation. To exclude tolls during route planning, select the Tolls checkbox.
The recommended and alternative routes are charted on the map. The estimated distance, duration, and cost information are also provided.
Click the information icon to view the vehicle properties and their values.
The profile selected in the Route options and costs section in the Route Planner window is displayed in the Edit profile pane. You can select a different profile if required.
In the Route options and costs section, click the information icon to view the vehicle properties. Note that the hazardous material details are also displayed if selected while editing the profile.

Add multiple destinations #
You can add multiple delivery destinations for an asset.
- In the Route Planner window > click Add destination. The Choose destination box is displayed.
- Enter a destination name, and then select the required address from the list displayed. The new destination is added, and the delivery route and cost estimate is recalculated.
Enter at least three characters to initiate a search operation in the location fields.

Route planner operations #
In the Route planner pane, you can perform the following operations.
- To delete a destination, hover over the Choose starting point and Choose destination boxes, and then click Delete
. To clear a specific location, click Close
. To clear all the locations added, click Reset.

- To reverse the locations specified along the route, click Reverse
.
- To view the complete address, hover over an address displayed in the list.
- You can rearrange the position of the added locations. In the Route planner pane, press and drag the number (1, 2, 3, …) next to the location box, and then drop it at the required location.
- To change the position of any added location from the map view, press and drag a number, and then place it at the required location. The changes will be reflected on the Route planner pane.


View restrictions layer #
While transporting goods along a route, there could be certain restrictions imposed in terms of height and weight limits, transport of hazardous material, axle load, vehicle class, among others. While deciding the route, you can use this map layer to view the restriction signs, which ensures safe, legal, and efficient transportation.
The signs on the map have interactive tool tips. To view detailed information, you can hover over a restriction sign.
